Then Bartogai reservoir (200 km from Almaty) was built to collect water in winter. The water flows via a 160-km canal along the Zaili Alatau. Floods of water under very high pressure surge into the expanse of the reservoir and separate into millions of tiny droplets, forming a shower of fine spray that sparkles in the sunshine.
